Let's start again.

Every day - that's what we have to do, right?  Start again.  We get new mercies and make new goals.  We're settling into a groove around here and maybe--just maybe--I'll be able to start blogging regularly again.

So much to say, but we'll (I say we, because there's another human with me at almost every moment) start with the small things:  Pinterest has been my new cookbook lately.  Tonight I made this French dip sammie.

It was yummo, and we have enough to feed the entire neighborhood.  So, come on over.  Here are a few notes in case you want to make one:

1. I used a bottom round roast, and it cooked way quicker than the 8 hours this recipe calls for.  This is the hard thing about using a crock pot--I rarely remember to use a meat thermometer, and all too often my meat gets overdone.  But since there's so much au jus, I think it's ok.  Just this once.  Next time: meat thermometer.

2.  Carmelizing onions to put on this is a must.  Just do it.

3.  I was going to make fries to eat with this, but I fortuitously forgot.  This thing is so filling.  I couldn't eat all of mine.  And the Mr. was pleased with his portion.

In cuter news, Little F is growing like the weeds.  Of course he has a ton of new tricks, but the best one is playing with his feet.  He is enamored with seine füs.  No need for toys these days.  He'll play with his feet for about 20 minutes at a time.

Coming up, we'll have the recaps of his last few months on shuffle the rest of the week.  Stay tuned...

  3. also, I want to punch the author in the face at times but I really like the recipes in this "parents need to eat too" cookbook I borrowed from the library. I love Indian food but find it super intimidating and have already made two passable dishes as well as several American classics.
